The 2014 [HPC]3 workshop is a successor to previous meetings in 2011 and 2012, and is focused on bringing together experts in hyperbolic PDE solvers, wave propagation applications, scientific software development, and high performance computing, in order to share knowledge, create software tools, and build new collaborations. The workshop is sponsored by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.

The workshop will take place November 8-13. Similar to previous years, the first two days will be largely devoted to lectures and tutorials while the final three days will be devoted to project development work in small teams. Participants will collaboratively implement new algorithms, features and functionality in the Clawpack software framework. The projects are currently planned around the following themes:

Themes

  • Teaching with Clawpack
  • Data structures and adaptive mesh refinement
  • Time integration for wave problems
  • Riemann solvers

Program highlights

  • Clawpack tutorial: Monday, 2:30 - 4:00 in the KAUST Library computer lab
  • Invited talks: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday mornings in the Library Sea View Room
  • Lightning talks: Monday, 11:30-12:30 am in the Library Sea View Room
